The Restaurants and Bars near Wharton Lock, Chester

There is a wonderful choice of bars, tea rooms and restaurants for you to enjoy during your stay in Chester. Enjoy an evening in the city centre where you will find many bars and restaurants to enjoy or a little closer to home you will find the new canal quarter, which offers a choice of quality bars and restaurants. Alternatively dine on the Canal Boat Restaurant and float past the apartment.

Old Harkers Bar, is about 400 metres along the canal path in the direction of Chester. This is a very handy watering hole after a tiring day out sightseeing or shopping. This is a real ale bar with a good selection of guest ales and ciders, they do a very nice Pimms as well! They serve home cooked food at both lunchtime and evening. No children allowed. The Artichoke, Cafe, bar and bistro situated near to Old Harkers, is family friendly up until 7pm and offers breakfasts, lunches, dinners and Sunday roasts. In between these two fantastic Real Ale bars you will find an Indian Restaurant not to be missed, Barton Rouge, it is our favourite Indian Restaurant in the city.

The Lock Vaults is about 100 metres away across the canal on the other side of the locks. In fact this is the Pub that can be seen from the Wharton Lock Apartment balcony. This is an ideal pub to call into, for a bite of lunch or just a drink.

If you enjoy Real Ale why not take a look at Chester Beer Appreciation Society website, they hold monthly meetings to try out and enjoy a range of real ales. They are a great source of information on where to go in the city for a good pint of Real Ale. This is just a selection to tempt you, there are many more.....
